As always I recommend trying these boots on in person at a local shop as each boot brand fits differently.Photographed by Theo Wenner, Vogue, July 2017 Keep this in mind if you need a roomier boot because you plan on wearing thicker socks in the winter. But with a thin pair of cotton socks they fit just fine. I was able to wear a thicker pair of socks and it wasn’t the roomiest inside the boot but not uncomfortable. I had to size a half size down for these boots. I’m a size 10 in shoes and found myself fitting in a Timberland size 9.5.

How do the Timberland Pro Barstow Wedge Boots Fit This problem went away as I broke them in but it wasn’t as smooth a process as with my previous pair of Thorogood boots. The only problems I had with breaking these boots in was the rough leather on the uppers that did cut into my foot around the toe box. These boots felt more comfortable as time went by. The wedge sole and anti-fatigue insole makes for a very comfortable boot over time. They have held up better than some of the wedge soles on my $300+ boots. The Timberland proprietary wedge sole is one of this boot’s best features. After 11 months of wear there is still as much traction as they day I purchased them. The rest of the outsole is still in-tact with minimal wear. After 11 months there is some wear on the back of the heels but that is due to the way I stand and walk. The outsole is a proprietary Timberland wedge outsole that is slip resistant. The leather isn’t as supple as with other boots therefore it takes a few wears to break in completely. The uppers are made of a rough full-grain leather. Although these boots are warm in the winter, they become too warm during summer months and I found myself switching to a lighter boot on hot work days. Unfortunately this becomes counteractive because the lining inside the boot is a nice thick leather and will cause your feet to sweat if the temperature is too warm. There is also anti-microbial lining on the boot’s tongue which is supposed to wick sweat and moisture to keep you feet dry. The anti-fatigue footbed in conjunction with the wedge sole really makes for a comfortable boot for long standing work days.

After 11 months the insoles are still going strong so that is a plus for Timberland. It includes a specially made anti-fatigue removable insole that really does work wonders for long days on the feet. The footbed insert provided by Timberland is very comfortable. I believe for the price they are a good value. When I purchased these a few years ago I payed between $80-90. But for those on a budget these Timberland boots will work just fine. So don’t expect Made In USA heritage boot quality with these. Unlike more expensive boots I found imperfections here and there in the stitching and construction. The Timberland Barstow work boots are a good alternative to anyone looking for an alternative to more expensive heritage style boots. After wearing these work boots for about 11 months I’ve decided to revisit them and give a quick review. The Timberland Pro Barstow Wedge boots are a nice pair of work boots meant for those professionals who spend lots of time on their feet such as electricians and carpenters.
